Description

Being a Resident Companion at Care UK
Resident Companions at Care UK come from all walks of life. Some will have worked in factories, supermarkets or schools. Some are returning to work after a break or a relative to a Resident.

Many have no, or mínimal, experience, but are keen to explore a career in care, while many already have invaluable experience.

What they all have in common is the right values. They're adaptable, friendly, polite and caring. They enjoy working as a team with people from different cultures and backgrounds. And, they consider it a privilege to be trusted to look after others. Do you share their values? Then we could have just the role for you.

What you'll be doing

Being a 'Resident Companion' doesn't just mean helping residents to remain as active and independent as possible while respecting their rights of choice, privacy and dignity.

It means having fun and laughter with them and listening to their stories of a past life, keeping them upbeat throughout the day.

And, it means working flexibly to help them explore new interests, engage in physical exercise and activities and make sure they enjoy themselves in a stimulating and homely environment.

Put simply, it means making a difference. A real difference and really stepping into that 'Companion' role whilst relatives aren't around to visit.

What you'll need
A genuine passion for caring for others, you may have looked after an elderly relative or friend before.

More important though is your kind-hearted nature, your belief in teamwork and your ability to use your initiative and imagination, follow instructions and bring a smile to the residents at Care Uk.

You'll be comfortable talking to, and working with, people from different professions and above all, you will have a natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling and want to work in an environment where the work can be hard, but also fun and rewarding.

We love providing care which is tailored to residents' individual needs.

Kingsleigh is a comfortable and welcoming, purpose-built residential dementia care home offering specialist care for those living with dementia and Alzheimer's.

The home is set in a quiet residential area of Old Woking in Surrey and is based in a single-storey building, surrounded by beautiful secure garden areas in which the residents can enjoy in a safe environment.

We also offer local carers the opportunity to meet every Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm for time out, tea and talks at our Dementia Support Café.

Every four weeks from 4th June, a guest speaker will also be joining us to share their knowledge and experiences.

Our team provides person-centred care, working with each resident to develop a care plan that is as individual as they are.

When a new resident joins us, we take the time to find out about their lifetime experiences, their interests and their likes and dislikes.

And we use what we learn to create a personal 'life history plan'.

Kingsleigh feels very much like a family home, with a relaxed atmosphere and a strong community spirit. We offer a wide choice of spaces where residents can socialise with friends and family. As well as spacious lounges, we have a pampering room and a mini gym.

We're even supported to keep fit by members of Woking Football Club, who come in once a week to do chair exercises with residents.
