Transitions Team Leader:

Job description

Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 12 Months Due To Funding

Our Homelessness Prevention and Support teams work in a fast-paced environment to ensure that we try and stop homelessness from impacting on individuals and families.

We achieve this by adhering to national legislation and guidance on homelessness and our own local well-developed policies and procedures.

Join us to deliver support to people who are sleeping rough and individuals who have been homeless before to enable them to transition to settled accommodation.

We help in ensuring that our homeless customers achieve a successful outcome in not only finding suitable settled accommodation, but in some cases dealing with and managing issues which may have contributed to them becoming homeless.

You and your team will benefit from job satisfaction in knowing that your efforts have improved the dignity, independence, and quality of life for your homeless customers.

Some of our customers can present with complex and challenging issues which may include people with alcohol and drug/substance misuse or dependency.

There may also be cases involving neglect and abuse.

You and your team will work closely with other professional services, such as:

Primary health care teams including mental health, police and probation services, social services both children's' and adult teams, a range of charitable and voluntary organisations who work closely with the homeless community.

You will also work closely with other LCC housing teams to facilitate successful and sustainable accommodation for your customers.

What you'll be doing

Reporting directly to a Service Manager, you'll provide management and leadership to a team of Transitions Workers who assess and manage a range of single (and childless couples) homeless clients.

You'll be pivotal in ensuring that your team treats all our customers with the same high level of customer care.

With regular one on one Quality Conversations and Case Management meetings, you'll provide clear direction and effective people and performance management by setting objectives, and monitoring outputs.

It goes without saying that a commitment to working in partnership with other organisations/people within and outside the team, treating people with fairness and respect and developing trust between those others will ensure continued positive outcomes for our homeless customers.

What you'll need
Compassionate and enthusiastic, you'll be passionate about working with the homeless.

With strong organisational skills and planning ability, you'll have a calm outlook, with the ability to utilise risk management to make sound decisions.

You'll have excellent communication skills, who truly believes in great customer care. An effective team leader, you'll be able to prioritise workloads for you and your team.

You'll be able to provide guidance and support to your team, ensuring that cases are dealt with effectively and to maintain good levels of motivation through the tougher period.

A good sense of humour will help.

We are looking for someone who can adapt to an ever-changing service, someone who begins their workday with a known plan of actions/tasks for that day, but who can then quickly re prioritise when faced with unexpected issue/s which require immediate attention.

If you have the ambition and drive to assist with this, then we look forward to hearing from you.

What we can offer you

As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance.

You'll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working.

We'll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities.

In addition, you can choose from a number of flexible benefits, including childcare vouchers, discounts on city buses and trains and help with relocation to Leicester, where appropriate.
