RSW Ltd are actively looking for a Yard Team Leader, to join our client based in the Pontypool (Mahmilad) area.

The client is a well-known Steel Construction Company so knowledge and experience of working with Steel is an advantage.


Main Tasks and Duties

  • Organising tasks/workload for Yard Operatives and associated staff.
  • Ensuring all relevant Goodsin/out paperwork is completed and accurate, to include adherence to loaded trailer documentation (LOLER, H&S, etc.) is recorded and filed as necessary.
  • Devising work schedules for staff to ensure goodsin/out trailers are loaded correctly and on time as required while ensuring Deadlines are met.
  • Ensuring that quality standards are always implemented and adhered to.
  • Maintaining safety standards, conducting risk assessments, ensuring staff have adequate first aid and fire safety training
  • Briefing their teams on new initiatives, changes to targets and company news
  • Recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring are a key skill required for helping staff reach their professional development goals
  • Review and revise, where necessary, Yard/Facility processes to increase efficiencies and productivity.
  • Conduct performance reviews with Yard Operatives and overseeing the performance of subordinate staff.
  • Compiling staff rotas, dealing with leave requests, and arranging cover when necessary
  • Ensure all documentation and company records are kept up to date.
  • Ensure reporting staff maintain records and documentation and file in the relevant folders.
  • Be comfortable working in a busy Production/Assembly/Manufacturing environment. Loading, Unloading and moving of heavy Construction materials and equipment to/from the companies current and future projects (Sites)
  • The ability to work closely and in a private & confidential manner with colleagues is a necessity of the role.
  • Assist Production Team Leaders in the execution of their duties.

Working hours & Pay Rates

  • Monday to Thursday 07:00 16:00
  • Friday 07:00 13:30
  • 2 x 10 minute paid breaks plus 1 x 30 minute unpaid break.
- £13.75 per hour rising to £14.50 after successful completion of probationary period

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Team Leader/Junior Management role
  • IT literate with experience of all the main packages
  • A qualification in a management capacity is preferred but not essential.
