The post is for a radiologist ideally with an interest in GI and GU Radiology.

Other specific interests that are considered beneficial include non-vascular interventional, chest, paediatric, gynaecology, GI and cross sectional imaging. Alternative specialist interests would be considered.

Applicants wishing to work part time are encouraged to apply. Future service redesign may result in flexible working patterns and home reporting in line with departmental and Trust objectives.

Given the nature and size of the Trust there are opportunities to help us shape the future of elective, emergency and acute medical care for our local area.

The successful applicant will be based at Harrogate District Hospital, a successful Foundation Trust providing a wide range of medical and radiological services to the local community.

We welcome cross-site working with other neighbouring Trusts, for example to maintain tertiary specialist skills whilst still enjoying the benefits of working in smaller friendly radiology team.

Provide specialist radiology a reporting (e.g. GU)

Contribute to specialist MDT meetings

Contribute to general radiology cover to help provide comprehensive acute and elective radiology

Contribute to on call rota

Help develop and shape the future of radiology services at HDH

HDFT is a high performing NHS trust with a progressive and rapidly developing radiology department.

The radiology department is located on the ground floor of the hospital and most modalities are in the main department, MR having a static unit close by and a mobile unit in the carpark.

Radiologists currently have their own offices. The successful applicant will be allocated either their own office or shared with one other consultant. Each office has a dual screen reporting workstation.

The radiology department is a founding member of the Yorkshire Imaging Collaborative and has a very active role in shaping radiology within the region.

Applicants will be provided with a home reporting station providing access to both Harrogate Radiology but opportunity for insourcing across the Yorkshire region.

The are many opportunities for teaching and training. The department has a rotational cohort of radiology trainees from the Leeds /West Yorkshire training scheme.

These are a mixture between general placements and speciality placements with opportunity to increase speciality rotations if an applicant wishes.

Regular medical student rotations through the department also provide opportunity for undergraduate teaching and links to the University of Leeds.

The post will be flexibly time-tabled to meet the demands of the service and take in into account an individual's requirements.

The timing of sessions may change as the service develops. A typical week would be 10 Programmed Activities, including an allocation of 1.5 PA for Supporting Professional Activities. Saturday session will be on rotation when on call. Typically radiologists work on site for 4 days per week.

The on-call commitment will be 1:10. Arrangements are flexible and on-call is organised around individuals' holiday and other commitments.

The consultant is oncall from 8am to 8pm with out-sourcing of acute CT to an external provider after 8pm. Currently approximately 50% of oncalls are with a radiology trainee as the 'first' oncall.

The Radiologists have access to PACS from home for oncall purposes.
