Description
This role involves communicating directly with professionals, families, carers, service users at times of acute emotional distress. You could be the first point of contact that any referrer could speak to. Have you the skills, compassion, and empathy to help a person on their journey to recovery.


The service will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year via shift working and the expectation is that you would be able to participate in this rota.


To provide a telephone call reception service for enquiries and referrals into Universal Crisis Team in the Northumberland and North Tyneside area.

The universal crisis team is an ageless service.

To support the referral pathway by engaging with service users, carers, and professionals to ensure that calls are dealt with efficiently and signposted appropriately.

Opportunities to work with our colleagues within the age streamed pathways, supporting with their day-to-day task.

Always utilising a high level of professionalism whilst providing a call handling role to the Universal crisis team pathway.


The call handler will ensure that demographic detail is correctly recorded, and all calls are responded to in an appropriate time frame.


To ensure that all clinical information is effectively communicated and documented within the electronic records system as per agreed CNTW Trust standards whilst always maintaining confidentiality.


Provide relevant information regarding local statutory and non-statutory services that may be able to assist the individual, the family, or carers.

Communicate effectively with service users, carers, colleagues, and all other Professionals.

Participate in the continuous development of the service.

To have the ability to work under direct/indirect supervision when providing individualised care.

The call handler will be required to work shift patterns that reflect a 24/7 service. This will include the expectation to work night shift duty.

Applicants will require competent computer and IT skills, an essential part of the role will be recording and accessing electronic information.

There will be training, and shadowing offered if you are successful in this post. The opportunity to complete an apprenticeship relevant to the role (Level 3 Emergency Service Contact Handling).
