Exciting opportunity for a Finance Analyst ( ACA / CIMA / ACCA ) to join an iconic UK brand in the Leisure industry.

This role will report to the Head of FP&A. It is expected that you come to the office two times per week.

What's the purpose of the job?

  • Working across functions, the role will look to maximise the effectiveness of OPEX spend across the business by partnering with key Operational teams.
  • Manage a Capital Analyst and own the delivery of all capital reporting across the business
  • Support and challenge the Operational teams by providing clear and informative reporting, validation of operational expenditure and detailed forecasting
  • Continue to develop reports that shows OPEX spend for key cost lines across the business, and provides a narrative as to current risks and opportunities to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that a credible total operational OPEX forecast is created in line with the business cycles.
What will I be doing?

  • Partnering with key OPEX budget holders to ensure that they deliver the best value to the business with their available resources
  • Support and control the monthly capital reporting and project manager partnering process through the management of a Capital Analyst ensuring all reporting is complete accurately and on time.
  • Review the monthly P&L's to ensure that all key cost lines are in line with expectations.
  • Understand and explain OPEX variances vs forecast across key OPEX lines to Operational departments.
  • Improve the understanding of OPEX in the business through improved monthly insight and articulation through the monthly reporting process.
  • Ensure that there is a robust forecast process for all OPEX lines that is in line with Operational departments expectations and can clearly be articulated to senior management.
  • Review OPEX forecasts to ensure that they are achievable and in line with expectations monthly and highlight any risks or opportunities versus the current forecast.
  • Analyse OPEX and identify best in class performance across all lines and assist in the roll out of suggested improvement plans in poor performing areas via FBPs/Support.
  • Provide modelling and analysis on new cost initiatives as identified by Operational departments.
  • Carry out adhoc analysis/tasks as required by the Head of FP&A.
  • Assist with weekly reporting where necessary as part of the wider FP&A team.
How will I be measured?

  • The OPEX base of the business is understood through clear reporting of costs incurred.
  • Analysis is respected across the business and utilised by the operational team.
  • Relied upon by operational teams for support in controlling costs.
  • Considered as a supportive member of the head office team, both to other head office colleagues and operational team members.
  • Support the Heads of the Maintenance and Procurement teams in rolling out new initiatives across the business.
  • Clear efficiency savings generated in the business which in turn leads to limited year on year cost growth.
  • Considered the go to person for Operational OPEX and Capex.
What qualifications, skills and experience do I need?

  • Ability to influence a wide section of the business to deliver important business initiatives.


  • Qualified Accountant

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability supported by a relevant Accounting qualification.
  • Experience of working in a multisite company, having an appreciation that each location is different.
  • Ability to work across several different work streams on an ongoing basis.
  • Excellent communication skills to deliver the key messages from a significant amount of data.
