We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a primary school located in Darwen.

This full-time position is available for the entire academic year and offers the chance to work with a great team, supporting children with a diverse range of special educational needs.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide oneonone support to students with SEN, including those with behavior challenges, learning difficulties, and other additional needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored learning activities to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Help create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting positive behavior management techniques and strategies.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and external professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Support students in their social and emotional development, encouraging independence and selfesteem.

Requirements:


  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant, ideally within a primary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEN, particularly in relation to behavior management and other additional needs.
  • Knowledge of effective strategies and interventions to support children with SEN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and emotional wellbeing of children.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certification or equivalent.
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Available to work fulltime for the duration of the academic year.

Salary:
£11.41-£12.50 per hour


Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Blackburn, Lancashire: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

  • Childcare: 1 year (preferred)
