BUSINESS RATES ASSISTANT

To help support the Business Rates Manager in effectively managing the firm's business rates payments and mitigation strategies.

LOCATION Swindon


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Log all incoming rates demands and check occupancy data to determine if the client is liable
  • Swiftly deal with Recovery notices
  • Communicating with Enforcement Agents when accounts have been passed to them
  • Reconcile Business Rates payments to Control Report
  • Analyse client tenancy data to inform Billing Authorities of new lettings, vacant units and sales.
  • Liaise with Property Managers and Client Accountants to ensure demands are paid on time
- including unpaid pivot

  • Reconcile credits to Control Report which includes Liaising with Billing Authorities to reconcile credits
  • Other ad hoc duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel Skills
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Business Rates knowledge is a preference but not essential
  • A team player
  • Enthusiastic and willing to undertake extra duties
  • Previous experience in dealing with large volumes of invoices
  • Ability to work to deadlines

£19,000.00-£21,000.00 per year

  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
