  • Job location: Barton Under Needwood.
  • Shifts: Days (possibility of an afternoon shift being added in the future woth increased pay)
  • Payrate: £15 per hour for basic days.
  • Hours per week: 44 hour per week.
  • Hours: 6 am to 4pm Monday to Thursday, 6am to 12pm on Friday.
  • Duration: Permanent. (three month temporary to permanent)
  • Start date: 26th of January.
  • Industries considered: All engineering or "handson" backgrounds just need an understanding mechanics
  • Great opportunity to be fully trained as a Rolling stock Tester, all training provided.
  • Client Summary:
  • Leading manufacturer and front line supplier of powertrain products based in the UK and Ireland. Areas of expertise include Engine Overhaul, final Drive Overhaul and locomotive refurbishment.
  • The Training:
  • You will be given one week paid on the job bespoke training, you will learn everything you need to know about Mechanical testing for the rolling stock industry, upon completion of the initial training your development will continue at work until you are a trained Tester.
  • Job overview:
  • The testing and validation of Rail Engines, Transmission, Powerpacks and Cooler Groups. The role will require a mechanical background.
  • Key accountabilities:
  • Installation into the test cells and testing of production power products in line with work instructions.
  • To ensure that products meet the testing requirements.
  • Ensure recording of accurate data to guarantee traceability.
  • Ensure all documentation is up to date and accurately recorded.
  • Have the ability to diagnose mechanical faults.
  • Liaise with production when required on technical issues.
  • Liaise with colleagues and work as a team when required.
  • Collect failure data and provide feedback on failures to Engineering.
  • Always adhere to the company's Health, Safety & Environmental instructions, and requirements.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duty or task as instructed by your line manager in pursuit of our goals and objectives.
  • Take on any other reasonable responsibilities or tasks that are within the employee's skills and abilities.
  • All test cells are computer controlled and therefore a reasonable level of computer competency is required.
  • Be flexible with working patterns when required by the business, which may include shifts.

Person Profile/Experience:

  • Computer literate.
  • Reasonable mechanical background.
  • Willingness to undertake the training.
  • Be able to evidence working or learning in a mechanical capacity

Qualifications:

  • Any mechanical qualifications will be ideal.
