We are looking for a
Benefits officer that would be able to work in
Rugby, Hybrid Work. A Full driving licence and access to a vehicle will be required to undertake home visits across the Borough


PAYE Pay:
£24.08


Umbrella Pay:
£31.30


Contract:
Temporary contract 3 Months


Hours: 37 Hours per week

Start Date:
ASAP


"Basic DBS Required"

  • Thorough understanding of legislation governing Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, and Discretionary Financial Support schemes, including Homeless Prevention Grants.
  • Previous experience in assessing claims for Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Reduction.
  • Strong communication skills across diverse demographics and communication channels.
  • Experience with Civica Open Revs is essential.
  • Basic DBS

Purpose of this Role:


The purpose of this role is to work with clients to support them to pay their rent and council tax through the provision of financial support.

This includes the administration of Discretionary Financial Support Schemes and Information and signposting regarding financial inclusion support.


Person Specification:


  • A good understanding of the legislation used for decision making regarding Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction and Discretionary Financial Support schemes administered by the team (including Homeless Prevention Grants)
  • Previous experience of assessing claims for Housing Benefit and or Council Tax Reduction
  • Excellent listening and communication skills with a wide range of people of all ages and background
  • Experience of explaining complex issues in a face to face, telephone based or videobased environment
  • Good time management skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise to meet deadlines
  • The ability to work well within a team and under own initiative and of maintaining professional boundaries with clients and partner agencies
  • A good understanding of the importance of confidentiality, safe practice and safeguarding
  • A good standard of education to enable the creation of letters undertaking basic arithmetic
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle to undertake home visits across the Borough.
