Lead Cycle Coach


GLL is looking for a Lead Cycle Coach to work at Lee Valley VeloPark, an exciting multi discipline cycling facility on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The venue comprises of a world leading indoor velodrome track, 390m BMX track, one mile floodlit road circuit, up to 5 miles of mountain bike trails, other indoor cycling opportunities including a fully equipped VeloStudio and fun kids activities.


We look to our Lead Coach to coach sessions regularly and head up our team of coaches and instructors across a comprehensive programme of activities, ensuring that our sessions are presented in an engaging and professional way in order to exceed customer and partner expectations.

The lead coach will need a positive and creative approach to problem solving to help achieve our commercial objectives, whilst leadership skills will inspire and create a motivational environment for customers, volunteers and the coaching team.

What you'll do:


  • Lead, manage and support the coaching team in delivery and development of VeloPark programme
  • Support VeloParks other departments, operational and management team in daily venue running
  • To lead coached sessions where appropriate to do so.
  • To effectively support events and activities on and off site as appropriate to the role.
  • Monitor and mentor session coaches, selfemployed & volunteer coaches
  • To support club officials, coaches and volunteers where appropriate.
  • To be a vital point of contact between clubs and individuals using the venue in order to maintain high standards and constantly improve the coaching.
  • To work closely with the mechanics and maintenance team in order to ensure that the highest safety standards are met in terms of venue infrastructure, hire equipment and coaching protocol.

What you need:


  • A British Cycling Level 2 Coaching Award in Track Cycling plus either of BMX, Road and Time trail and MTB or a willingness to qualify in the remainder.
  • A current, valid first aid certificate (minimum first aid at work or equivalent).
  • A willingness and ability to obtain a British Cycling Level 3 Coaching Award in track cycling (if not already held).
  • A cando attitude with a real focus on customer service.
