Purpose of the Role

I am representing a client based in Charnwood, who are looking for someone to assist the Allocations and Lettings Team in the smooth running of the Councils Housing Allocations Service and Choice Based Lettings scheme.

You will be expected to assess the needsof housing applicants according to the Council's policies and procedures. Additionally, you will deliver an effective and appropriate service to all service users, fairly and without discrimination.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist with the advertising of vacant Council and Registered Provider properties and the shortlisting of applicants. To record all refusals of offers, updating IT systems and files accordingly and monitoring outcomes.
  • Deal with enquiries and to advise clients regarding the housing register, transfer, and allocations processes, by telephone and face to face. To refer clients to Housing Officers where necessary.
  • Liaise with partner agencies and Registered Providers.
  • Provide support to the Housing Needs Team.
  • Assist the Lettings Officers in compiling, monitoring, and reporting service performance indicators and customer service standards.
  • Work with and always protect confidential and sensitive information held and produced by Housing Needs and other parts of the Council.

Requirements:


  • Flexible approach to work and ability to adapt to change.
  • GCSE Maths and English, Grade C or above (or equivalent qualifications).
  • Experience of Housing Allocations, Choice Based Lettings, or related work.
  • Experience of general office duties including data inputting, typing, record keeping, filing, dealing with general telephone enquiries and written correspondence.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel and the internet.
  • Experience of analysing data and identifying trends and actions.
  • Ability to liaise with external organisations.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be able to perform all the duties and tasks of the job with reasonable adjustments, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010.
