Full Time, 35 Hours Per Week, Monday - Friday.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:


Therapeutic Housekeepers are deployed by the Household Manager (or as deputised by the household manager) and/or by the Deputy Heads of Group Living.


  • Duties include the cleaning and maintaining of:_
  • All areas of the Mulberry Bush School, offices and common parts.
  • The households, including but not exclusively, bedrooms, living, dining areas etc. bathrooms and toilets, kitchens. Making/changing beds on a regular basis.
  • Making sure children's clothes are washed and returned to their rooms. Make sure they have adequate school uniform.
  • Meet with house teams on a regular basis in order to discuss/attend to matters of common concern and responsibility, whilst providing feedback on the issues.
  • Attend children's meetings or other team meetings as agreed with the Household Manager.
  • To comply with all aspects of Health & Safety as outlined in the School Policies.
  • Running the Laundry:_
  • Washing and drying of all bed linen, towels and children's clothes.
  • Ironing/folding. Collect bedding and towels from Sleeping In flats as and when.
  • Clean all filters in dryers and vacuum.
  • Identify any defects/damage to machines and contact Laundry services for visit by engineers, completing appropriate paperwork and passing copies to the Senior Administrator.

Essential Skills:


  • Similar previous position or family experience looking after people in some way.
  • Knowing the requirements to keeping cleanliness within a home and performing tasks.
  • Able to interact and feel comfortable engaging with children.
  • Physically resilient in manual tasks (carrying laundry, making beds & cleaning).
  • Contribute to an inclusive environment, valuing people and being positive.

Desirable Skills:


  • Experience having worked in a childcare / therapeutic setting.
  • Confident in logging information into online systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of dealing with vulnerable and challenging behaviour of children.
  • Interest and activities that could be used to build relationships with children and colleagues.
  • COSHH regulations and practise.
