Adam Park

Having graduated with a degree in Psychology from the University of Strathclyde, I am keen to apply my comprehensive academic learning and volunteer experience within a professional context by pursuing a role as an Assistant Psychologist. My education and hands-on involvement in crisis management as a Samaritans listener have equipped me well to make a substantial contribution to patient care alongside Practitioner Psychologists. I possess a deep understanding of complex emotional and psychological conditions, especially those related to neurological disorders or disabilities.

My dedication to enhancing mental health outcomes and patient quality of life motivates me. I excel at applying psychological theories to practical situations, creating care approaches that are both empathetic and based on scientific evidence. My goal is to assist the psychological team in research, developing treatment plans, and conducting training sessions. My strong communication skills enable effective collaboration and coordination among diverse team members. Furthermore, I am committed to further developing my professional skills within a multidisciplinary environment, aiming to significantly support patient needs and contribute to the overarching objectives of psychological research and practice.

In my role as a Listening Volunteer at Samaritans, I offer non-judgmental emotional support while ensuring confidentiality and recognising potential crisis situations among callers. I listen with empathy, record details of calls according to Samaritans' protocols, and occasionally direct callers towards further resources. Additionally, I participate in regular training sessions to maintain and enhance my ability to perform these duties effectively.

In addition to this my role as Tesco express supervisor entails regularly managing shifts, which includes overseeing colleagues, assigning tasks, and offering support. Responsibilities also involve delivering personalised customer service, operating the checkout, opening and closing the store, maintaining and organising inventory, collaborating with team members, and helping onboard new staff.

I have completed a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Social Sciences, which provided me with a broad understanding of various disciplines within the social sciences, including sociology, economics, and political science. This program equipped me with analytical skills and a foundational knowledge of social structures, behaviours, and cultural dynamics.

Following the HND, I pursued and obtained an Honours Degree in Psychology. This degree deepened my understanding of human behaviour and mental processes. It involved studying cognitive, developmental, social, and clinical psychology, allowing me to apply psychological theories and research methods to real-world problems. This program also enhanced my critical thinking and research skills, preparing me for professional roles that require expertise in psychological assessment and intervention.
