About adam toney:
My name is Adam Toney. I am currently unemployed but I'm working on several short stories and a novel that I hope to release within the coming years. I adore books, reading and all things creative. I am an extremely sociable person, and I love discussing various topics in great detail, from history to writing, movies to art, I can talk about it all for hours on end with anyone!
Experience
Wait Staff Member - National Trust (October 2016)
I did a week of work experience with the National Trust, working within the Giant's Causeway Hotel. This included 2 days working as a waiter in the restaurant, and another three days in the bar serving drinks, such as tea and coffee, to guests.
I gained an understanding of what it is like to work in a fast-paced environment and was praised for my ability to handle issues with guests quickly and effectively more than once. In addition to this, I cleaned and reset tables after the guests had left, maintaining the standards of the hotel at all times.
I also aided in the cleaning of dishes when the hotel was not as busy.
Tour Guide - National Trust (October 2017)
I did one week of work experience with the National Trust working at the Giant's Causeway Visitor Centre as a tour guide. This included two days within the centre itself, and a further 3 working as a tour guide.
During this time, I learnt how to manage a large number of guests, ensuring all of their issues were addressed properly and in a timely manner, no matter how busy the place was. I developed people skills, and I was able to aid in the tours being given and interact with a large group of guests at once without any real issue, recounting the history of the Causeway while also guiding them to several landmarks.
I learned a great deal about the Giant's Causeway and the surrounding area during my time there, and this only further increased my already great love of history.
