About Aisling Lenehan:
My name is Aisling Lenehan and I have recently completed a 2:1, BA (Hons) degree in printed textile surface design from the National College of Art and Design in 2021. My graduate collection was an interior textile collection entitled ‘Wild Essence’ and was influenced by modern cultural movements like Wicca and Rewilding.
Driven by this inspiration the idea of tactility and texture became a driving force in my work. Screen print processes such as flock, foil and etch were heavily used to emulate the natural surfaces that influenced the collection. Lucious fabrics and colours were also extremely important in the development of this work as the combination of rich, luxurious colour tones and fabrics aided in the development of a warm, inviting interior.
Developing an aesthetic that is unique and that resonated with the customer is extremely important to me as a designer. I look forward to a future in interior textiles, working alongside brands that hold similar inspiration.
Experience
I has previously had experience in commercial print, completing an internship with JRC London where I developed a range of prints for high street fashion brands. During my time there I also participated and presented mood boards in trend forecast meetings and communicated and dropped off designs with partnered fashion brands. Through this I have developed experience in working in a fast paced environment as well as producing original designs as specified in design meetings.
I also have a considerable amount of experience working with clients as well as working in a team. Throughout my time in NCAD I had the fortunate opportunity of completing a number of collaborative project across a range of disciplines as well as with The Westbury Hotel in Dublin. This particular project involved developing a line of giftboxes and scarves for hotel guests and staff. These projects have aided a good level of communication and understanding where by I understand and can articulate the needs of both clients and team members.
Education
I have just completed a four year BA (Hons) degree specialising in Printed Textile and Surface Design, from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin.
