Aldrin Rena

I am a final year student on the Sports Therapy BSc attending the University of Essex. At my time here I managed to receive a Sports Scholarship while continuing my studies which fortified my leadership and communication skills. Through the Sports Therapy BSc I have gained a breadth of knowledge through research on anatomy and physiology. My keen interest is to work in cardiology and the NHS.

Royal Oldham Hospital – January 2020

During Sixth Form, I participated in a 3-day work experience at the local hospital where I visited different departments of the hospital and watched how Doctors and Nurses deal with different patients and their ability to identify problems quickly. This experience enabled me to get an insight on handling different types of people to tend to their needs.

Edwin Rena’s Plumbing – June 2021 – September 2021

After finishing Year 13 I offered to help my dad with his plumbing business. This helped to consolidate my ability to work well with my hands and the ability to use my initiative.

Bouquet Garni Catering Company – June 2022

While studying at the University of Essex I spent time working at a catering company where we dealt mainly with weddings where I would serve food, work at the bar, and attend to guests with their queries. Working at Bouquet Garni helped fortify my communication skills with guests and further explore my team-working skills.

Through my Sports Therapy BSc, I have educated in applied anatomy and physiology while also other aspects such as the cardiovascular system. This has been fortified by research I have done throughout my undergraduate degree. Whilst studying this degree, I have participated in placement at the sports clinic at the University of Essex and at Long Melford FC. Because of this, I have experienced and consolidated my skills in examination and assessment to provide the most suitable treatment to clients. Overall, through this placement and degree I have developed critical thinking skills and knowledge in examination and assessment including uses of electrotherapy.
