Alexandros Scurr

I am a dedicated professional with a diverse background in customer service, support work, and volunteerism. From March to July 2020, I volunteered with Depaul UK, a youth homelessness charity, where I provided critical support to disadvantaged communities during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This experience strengthened my ability to assist those facing social exclusion and homelessness, and involved roles at supported living hostels, running workshops, and participating in mentoring schemes.

My work experience spans throughout various sectors, including Subscriptions Manager at Larkin Publications and Barista at Caffé Nero. These positions have developed my skills in customer relations, inventory management, and maintaining high standards of service. As a Support Worker at Frontier Support and Riverside Care and Support, I provided specialist care to individuals with diverse needs, ensuring their safety and well-being while developing their confidence and life skills.

I have a strong passion for public speaking and debate, often engaging in community activities and fundraising. As an avid sports enthusiast, particularly in boxing and basketball, I have played with the Newcastle Eagles Junior team and hold qualifications in Sports Science and Basketball Coaching. My interests in music, art, and performances keep me connected with local creatives and cultural events.

Fluent in English and proficient in Greek, I bring a comprehensive skill set and a commitment to making a positive impact in both professional and community settings. I am eager to leverage my experience and passion for helping others in my next role, or trying my hand at something completely new.

I have extensive experience across various roles in customer service, support work, and management. Most recently, as a Subscriptions Manager at Larkin Publications, I managed customer subscriptions, handled queries, and maintained a well-organised workspace. As a Barista at Café Nero, I prepared specialty drinks, developed customer relationships, and managed inventory. My support work roles at Frontier Support and Riverside Care and Support involved providing specialist care to individuals with disabilities, resolving challenges, and ensuring meticulous record-keeping. Earlier, I gained experience as a Server/Barman at Hotel Du Vin and Pleased to Meet You, where I refined my customer service skills. Additionally, as a Customer Service Advisor for the NHS Business Services Authority, I resolved queries and ensured compliance with regulatory requirements. My career began as a Bartender at Ernest Café Bar, where I managed cash, supervised staff, and maintained excellent time management.

I completed my education at Newcastle College, where I earned a BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Sports Science from 2013 to 2016. Prior to that, I attended Heaton Manor Secondary School, achieving GCSEs in nine subjects with grades A to C, including English Literature, English Language, and Maths. During my school years, I was also an active member of the Newcastle Eagles junior basketball team wherein I gained valuable experience both as a player and a level 1 basketball coach.
