Hello!

I am an experienced and qualified English language teacher, but I know that I will make a fantastic subtitler! 

The experience and skills I gained in my career as a teacher are perfectly transferable to the role of subtitler.

I worked in many countries around the world as senior teacher for the British Council, teaching English as a second language to adults of all levels, nationalities and ages. 

In this role I was also responsible for overseeing other teachers' lessons, delivering exceptional customer care, and trouble shooting problems whenever they arose. 

As you can imagine, it was essential that I had impeccable spelling and grammar skills, as well as a clear and easy to understand voice.  I am also used to working as part of a team and working to tight deadlines.

In my spare time I enjoy creative writing and international affairs. This will certainly enable to me to transcribe whilst managing to keep the full sense and flavour of the programmes.

Nov. 2009 - Dec. 2009 Interactive Software Designer and Editor for Harper Collins Publisher

I created and edited interactive educational whiteboard software for Harper Collins. This was a high school Geography course where textbook content was transformed into interactive content.

At the same time as the above post, I was also assessing school teachers’ interactive lessons for Promethean Whiteboard Software. I lead various teams of high school teachers and English Language (EFL Teachers) through an online course teaching them to create interactive materials  for their schools.

My responsibilities included supporting teachers through the provision of supply cover when they were absent, and supporting students with special needs. 

Nov. 2003 – Nov. 2006 Interactive Teaching Courseware/Software developer, Activlingua Promethean, Blackburn

I designed and wrote language courses for interactive whiteboards, and produced award winning materials for DFES (ESOL). I created interactive teaching games and trained new developers in using design software. I also worked alongside an Indian based company, overseeing their development of my courses.

I taught general English to a variety of levels from beginner to advance (high school aged children).

This post was taken up voluntarily during a 4 month period of evacuation from Israel. My duties included teaching all levels from beginner to advanced.

I taught English to both adults and children of all levels. My responsibilities also included line managing teachers, lending IT support to teaching staff, designing classroom lesson plans, syllabi and resources, writing academic reports for sponsored clients, teacher training and ensuring that teachers’ lessons were planned in accordance with the curriculum and quality standards through regular lesson observations.
