About Aliyah Farooq:

In my Level 3 Childcare course I have learnt about children and their EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage). This has then helped me to understand the children’s needs, specifically towards their development norms and how they are kept healthy and safe. The EYFS framework suggests what a child should be aiming at and how to develop at each stage. The needs of the child are met by communicating with the parents to help a child to progress before they start school.  By having knowledge and being able to relate with people from other ethnicities would then make it more comfortable and easier to communicate with the service user. This would then also be a learning experience as well as guidance for others. Confidentiality is when information cannot be discussed. It is an essential part in the childcare provision as it protects children from being exploited. The parents of the child in a nursery would have access to their files whilst all other children’s files and information are kept protected. A child should not be discussed by a teacher with any other person but the parents or guardians of the child. Any personal issues that arise between parents and a child should be kept between these boundaries.

Connecting through to children verbally and non-verbally comes easily as it is simple for me to overcome communication barriers that occur. With staff members it is easy to understand them as I am open to advice and criticism as this is what would make me a better worker and also make me understand more from individuals that are experienced. Working in a team for me has been built through the work experience that I have carried out and also the placement that I am currently in. I have come to realise how important it is to have effective communication and the difference it can make to routines. The way in which the centre runs is important as the routine then fits into the children’s and staffs routine. This would then also give children and other adults a clear overview of the day and what is happening. This could also include the policies and procedures that are followed they are all important as they emphasise on the children’s safety and wellbeing.

Equal opportunities is when you give others the right to do things no matter what their difference is for example gender, culture or age. The Health and Safety Policy is to consider the safety of the adult and the children that are taking part in the activity this would be carried out by taking precautions and risk assessments on a daily basis. The experience that I have with taking care of children has been through working at this centre. I have worked closely with babies all the way up to children at the age of 5. I understand the differentiated needs and development of children through these different stages. I adore coming into work with children as they are intelligent and are the future therefore helping and supporting them to make righteous decisions and supporting them develop is important to me.

I enjoy working with children and the multiple work experience that I have carried out has helped me look at the different aspects of the job. I am determined to work to my best ability in order to enhance the learning of children as well as myself. I am willing to be at the side of staff members in order to provide support and also gain learning experiences with skills. Communicating with children and other staff members are essential when you are in a setting like a nursery, in order to effectively get your message across this would also include eye contact and proximity. The ideas that I can contribute in planning from observing what children enjoy and admire in activities could help and support child led activities.
