Amaanullah Zahgam

Attaining a first class (Hons) in BSc Mathematics in one of the top universities here in the United Kingdom and having an understanding of Mathematics, I have acquired a variety of skillsets. I am currently  seeking roles within the data industry, hence I feel that working as a Data Analyst or a related role would be best suited for me. Having a real passion in the subject of Mathematics from a really early age, I do believe I understand that it is absolutely paramount for one to have good analytical and numeracy skills, which in turn I feel are the pre-requisite skills for one to be a Data Analyst. Throughout my educational journey, I have been able to develop invaluable skills, including analytical and numerical skills, that are transferable to a vast range of roles, including data consultancy. Having these skillsets allows me to be open and think out of the box. This further entices me to apply for this role, as I understand that I will be required to work with both quantitative and qualitative data, and analyse this thoroughly in order for me to interpret the data and thus conclude with giving an acceptable solution. 

Being fortunate in having a plethora of skillsets, leadership is just one element of the skillsets I have acquired through the SCITT programme I was involved in, as well as having the experience of taking charge and delegating certain tasks at the tuition centre, from time to time, where I am currently tutoring part-time.

In addition to this, I personally give great attention to my communication skills as I truly believe that transparency is key when it comes to communication, as I feel that most often, most corporate organisations fail to recognise this, both internally and externally. Furthermore, I believe that having the skillset of being able to communicate in several languages (Multi-Lingual) can surely, only prove to be a great advantage to me as well as to any organisation I join.

In terms of IT skills, I have ample experience of using several computer programming languages such as MATLAB, R, Python and C++, and as well as holding a Microsoft Specialist Excel 2016 certificate.

Having such a vast range of skillsets, I believe that I am on a constant learning curve, where it is imperative for me to be engaging with the skillsets that I acquire by continuously recognising and working on my strengths and weaknesses.

I personally feel that the role provides a bridge between developing both technical and business analytics skills to generate and deliver data driven solutions for companies, and a great kick start for my graduate career. I really enjoy problem-solving, which is clearly reflected from the fact that I have degree in mathematics.

In addition to all of this, I would like to mention some of my hobbies and interests. Table tennis, cricket, squash, mathematics, socialising as well as various mind games are very keen hobbies of mine. I also have a great passion for self-development.

I am working part-time for a tuition centre where I am working with many students from different backgrounds, and ages, currently working closely with many students studying both the GCSE and IGCSE curriculum, as well as tutoring students, currently studying the A level curriculum. From time to time, I am also expected of take charge of the tuition centre by managing and delegating certain tasks.  I also have experience In working in a school as part of the SCITT PGCE course I was doing where I was training to be a mathematics teacher. As well as this I, also give private tuition to students that is either online or face to face. 

I recently have completed a degree in BSc Mathematics and have received a first class (with Hons). Throughout this degree, I have studied many modules to do with Statistics, Pure Maths, Calculus, Applied Maths and as well as Computing and Coding. I have also obtained a Microsoft Specialist Excel 2016 certificate when I was studying my Computing and Data Analysis with Excel module in the first year of my degree.
