About Amy Young-Harry:
I am a passionate and highly motivated individual with a strong interest in supporting children & young adults with diverse needs. I take pride in implementing new skills and methods of learning that influence the self-esteem, self-concept and psychological well-being (PWB) of students with SEN in the classroom. These experiences, continue to provide me with further valuable experience in preparation for doctoral study in educational psychology.
My personal interests are deeply rooted in psychology and the pursuit of a profound understanding of human behaviour.
I am dedicated to conducting in-depth research aimed at unravelling the unique individual experiences of people. I am passionate about raising awareness of the impacts of additional needs on educational experiences. Likewise, expanding my knowledge of the magnitude of diverse needs present in the classroom, as well as the strategies that can be employed to support them effectively. For instance, my most recent endeavour, speaking at a conference on supporting sensory needs in the classroom. This granted me the opportunity to discuss my MSc dissertation on the retrospective educational experiences of people with vision impairment's (VIs) aged 18-30, and the impacts of these past experiences on their (PWB) n adulthood. By spreading awareness of the challenges that students with VIs face in different educational settings and recommending strategies to improve their experiences, I was able to broaden my knowledge about strategies that can be used to support a range of sensory needs in the classroom.
My fulfilment lies in offering a source of comfort to students, delivering empathetic support that reflects my own experiences as a visually impaired individual. Students with diverse needs often face challenges such as loneliness and low self-esteem in educational settings (Young-Harry, 2022). I take pleasure in working with these individuals, enhancing their confidence and self-esteem through the implementation of tailored strategies designed to pose long-lasting effects.
Exposure to the triad of academic, personal and employment experiences has meant that I have been able to develop a comprehensive and in-depth understanding into developmental educational psychology.
Experience
I support children & young people with diverse needs, in order to positively influence their self-esteem, self-concept & psychological well-being (PWB). Likewise, create awareness into strategies that can be employed to support a range of needs within education establishments.
Education
I hold a BSc in Psychology Child-Development. Likewise, a recent MSc graduate in Developmental and Educational Psychology.
