Ben Smith

I am a highly motivated school leaver with excellent communicational skills and a sustained drive to work hard. I have recently undertaken a gap year which i have spent working and travelling south east asia. I achieved three A levels (ABB) in Business ,Economics and Politics in 2023 , and am eager to start my career in the finance.

2023 – BP, Customer Services Assistant

• Serving customers and dealing with various queries and requests.
• Participating in promotional schemes, such as the pushing for consumers to use or start using BP cards – This has exposed me to sales/marketing and improved my influencing skills aiming to convincing consumers to adopt a loyalty card.
• Taking charge of deliveries and stock replenishment of hot food and beverages in Wild Bean café.
• Since being at BP I have been provided with rigorous Health and Safety training covering Fire Safety, First Aid and Food Safety as well as education on how to deal with uncomfortable or unusual situations such as theft and other events which may threaten customer or fellow employee wellbeing.

2021 to 2023 – McDonald’s, Customer Care

• Started off as a crew member with the responsibility of preparing customer drinks.
• Promoted by my Business Manager into a customer experience leader role and completed associated courses

2020-2023 – Work Experience – 3 Placements

            Clarksons (NOV 2023)

• In November 2023 I carried out work experience at Clarksons maritime consultancy.
• This involved me shadowing the cape desk in London.
• Allowed me to gain experience and knowledge from both new and accomplished shipbrokers
• During my time there I also read through how a ship is fixed from the start of the trade to the operations department through the to the completion of the voyage

            Lesterose Builders Ltd 

• Observed, learned, and participated in the surveying department.
• Identified the type of skills needed for a surveyor and gained awareness on the day-to-day activities carried out by a prominent building firm.
• Helped assist qualified quantitative surveyors with tasks such as measuring up to scale and carrying out calculations for cost of materials.

           Balfour Beatty

• Shadow the development director overseeing the regeneration of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
• I was due to be working with the whole team, including the architects, surveyors, and sales team, thus gaining an insight into the complete construction process from start to finish.
