During my work experience I have developed strong skills in in supporting children and young peoples overall development, and I am genuinely passionate about providing the best child care and experiences that help a child grow. I have an excellent record in working with children and staff members and parents have proven me to be a positive role model for the children. I take pride in being able to handle situations sympathetically but with professionalism.
Experience
Extensive childcare experience - I have had childcare experience in both nurseries and primary schools and have worked with children ranging from an age of 2-9. I have also had experience working with children who have additional support needs.
In depth and up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and principles that underpin working with children - from being in college I have used currant legislation, frameworks and policies such as Curriculum for excellence, Pre-birth to three, realising the ambition, UNCRC, which are used when working with children and have an understanding of what they include.
Excellent communication skills - I can work with children of all ages, and use language that is appropriate and easy for them to understand. I can work well with other staff and communicate my ideas that could enhance practice.
Effective listening - I listen to the views, opinions and needs of children and young people, and work to meet their needs. I work well in a team and take direction from management and other staff, but can also work on my own. I listen to the views of the staff and take on board any constructive feedback and implement them within practice if needed.
Self control and patience - I am a very patient individual so therefor can work with children who need some extra assistance in an environment where they feel safe and secure enough to take their time with things if needed.
I always put the children at the centre of all practice through providing them with a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment which meet their needs. I am aware of the safeguarding protocols that are in place when working with children, and I know that confidentiality should be kept at all times.
