Cover Note for Billal Khwaja – Senior End Point Engineer
About me | To gain a deep insight into the dynamics of any working domain to establish the best and most productive outcome.
I have always had a passion for IT & to learn new skills. At an early age, I was introduced to dbase 3 plus programming which I found very interesting and was very similar to any command line interface these days such as (CMD, Windows PowerShell, PyCharm) and was used to create command line scripts to build programs with basic tables &structures like excel. This also had a very similar interface to the likes of Commodore 64. I really enjoyed it because it was something new in the market. I then went on to learn Java, Python, Networking, a little about Linux at University, UML Modelling, HTML 5, and had supported my old workplace with digital development of e-Learning content and building an online repository. |
My Innovations & Creativity | From being a simple salesperson in previous roles to designing and developing an e-Learning training solution platform for almost 5000+ staff, was one of my greatest achievements. My objects have always been diverse, and I am able to adapt to any platform proactively using my strong soft and hard skills acquired over the years. I like to reason with logic but like to also interpret my reasoning in simple terms for any set of audiences. |
Recognition, Passion & Drive | I am a people's person and have always dedicated myself to ensure my work provides quality which has led me to be awarded a two times champion for excellence in service awards by UCL - University College London, & Trust level recognition in a corporate setup. |

My Work in a summary | I started working with the NHS in 2013 and the first job I landed myself with was in Medical Education. I spent 3 years and dedicated myself completely to the role. I was managing trainee's from UCL & Imperial on the Year 6 and Year 5 placements. I then moved into my next role where I was appointed to facilitate Trust e-Learning solutions and Mandatory Training Performance in 2017. This expanded my scope of work and I started working on multiple platforms towards hosting solutions. It was then I was invited to devise a cost-effective working solution in the interim until the Trust acquired a SSO - Self-Serve based Learning Management System. Prior to this I had been working to develop a doctors training portal which influenced the Trust to expand its L&D scope.
Following this I worked with an MSP - Managed Service Provider in two primary schools managing their IT infrastructure from being 1st line on site to 2nd and even at times jump in to support 3rd line escalations such as supporting with server migrations. I was working on server 2012 built on a single ESXI host with 4 VM's on each school site using VMWare / vSphere as our cloud-based management tool. I was also responsible for the physical and logical management of all IT systems which included a daily site walk to ensure an audit is regularly undertaken to check the health of systems, storage and much more. Working on various servers built on VM's meant, I was looking after: 1) Active Directory Users, Computers, OU's and Group Policies and their dependencies. 2) File Storage & Print Management Server 3) RDP Server 4) Application Server 5) Cloud based (Applications, Solutions, End Point Protection, Backup and Storage) and the above setup had been replicated across multiple school sites.
Throughout my tenure within the NHS, Private & Public sector, I have been exposed to the ITIL environment. |
