Brook Wilkins

I am a Full Stack Software Developer as I have had a lifetime long interest in computers and coding. I have over 1 year+ of working in the industry. From a young age, I got my first computer and ever since then I fell in love. Over the years I have been adding and developing my computer by myself; drawing me into a career that I have wanted to do from the start. 

I am a hardworking, punctual individual who is not afraid to take on new problems or challenges and see them through to a desired solution. I am always very determined and will put my mind to anything, and never give up. Flexibility is key which is why I can adapt to anything thrown at me. 

Working for Playtech (leaders in the gaming and gambling industry). I have worked on multiple projects such as small tickets like updating DB scripts. To working on bigger projects such as doing a whole Paddy Power site redesign which involved working in an agile team of 9 with 5 of them being devs working together to complete to a deadline whilst also giving demos to Paddy Power themselves for any feedback or pointers. 

The next project I worked on was creating 5 new UI rooms for a new Bingo site. I was working in the same team working in the same manner. We were given a figma diagram which had all the designs on which we then had to implement. 

Lastly, the biggest project I have worked on is creating a brand new bingo game. This started of with a lot of story mapping and story sizing meetings to break it all down and determine how long this would take. After this we got started with getting the game to work and adding in small bits of graphic work. I mainly worked on the implementation of putting the designs/images in place but also worked on the bingo ball call, speed of the ball call, ball matched highlight, ball land, and pattern match to all be in sync with each other when an action/pattern happens. In this game there is a progress bar which I implemented which allows you to keep track on how you are doing. 

I have great experience in working in agile scrum teams, Good communication skills, management skills, time management, and experience in Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins.

In this two-year IT course, we cover almost every single aspect of general IT, such as software design and development, computer systems, e-commerce, database design, IT systems troubleshooting/repairs, event-driven programming, managing networks, computer game design, and much more. This course was very fast-paced, enjoyable, and packed with lots of learning information. This qualification added to my enthusiasm and desire to become a software Engineer/Developer.
