Carmen Bannerman

A diligent, adaptable, and resourceful person who excels at multi-tasking. I bring a hands-on, flexible and theoretical approach and I am committed to achieving and maintaining high standards throughout. Furthermore, I am a hard-working person who relishes the opportunity of learning new skills and methods of working. 

I am currently studying towards a Natural Science degree at the Open University, which has provided me with a basic foundation in scientific principles and some basic laboratory techniques. 

In my natural sciences course, I have analysed and monitored different bacteria populations and their growth rates using a spectrophotometer. In addition, we have taken part in team projects where we analysed various chemical reactions. I have found the microbiology and chemistry topics very engrossing and fascinating, and I hope to specialise in either of these subjects in the future when my degree is completed.  

One of my strengths lies in my very good organizational skills, allowing me to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasks and prioritize them according to their importance.  

During my previous job roles, I demonstrated the ability to cope under pressure and deliver results within tight deadlines. I am accustomed to working in fast-paced environments where attention to detail and accuracy, are paramount. Furthermore, in the catering job role where I worked at Harvey Nichols as a deli bar assistant, I learned a lot about food hygiene and health and safety protocols at work, and successfully gained the level 1&2 food hygiene certificate.  

Throughout my university coursework, I have completed tasks and assignments that required careful data analysis, documentation, and adherence to strict protocols. I feel that my work and educational experience would be valuable in a scientific role and I would relish the opportunity to be trained.

I am currently studying an undergraduate degree in the natural sciences. In addition, I have obtained an access to HE (Level 3) qualification in science at the open college network.
