About Charlotte Donovan:
I am currently coming to the end of my maternity leave, before this, I was the Supporter Engagement Coordinator for The Brooke Action for Horses, Donkeys and Mules. Specifically, I managed, oversaw and delivered direct marketing campaigns to increase supporter numbers whilst retaining existing supporters through newsletters, emails, DRTV ad campaigns, text-to-help and post mailings whilst analysing and maintaining supporter journeys. I was also responsible for everyday runnings of direct marketing campaigns reporting, making sure all campaigns met the latest compliance and data privacy, and leading team meetings and agendas while overseeing budgets, invoice reconciliation and financial transfers.
Previously, I worked as the Communication Specialist for a community charity, providing community programs and services in Woodberry Down, one of Hackney's most deprived wards.
I managed all of our communication platforms (website content, volunteer vacancies, social media channels, fundraising packs, and newsletters) as well as internal communications, (meeting agendas and minutes, organising and leading team meetings) along with writing press releases and developing relationships with local media to secure coverage. I also introduced crowdfunding and fundraising with regular donors during the COVID-19 pandemic to raise funds for our emergency food hub.
Before I became the Communication Specialist for the Trust, I was the Project Officer. This was a more front-facing role where my responsibilities were to lead, manage and deliver on community projects, services, and activities, and work with key stakeholders to deliver project goals and objectives. I also engaged and built relationships with members of the community, recruited and managed volunteers, and implemented and managed community events from school holiday activities, and Fun Days, to large-scale festivals bringing in over 4,000 visitors.
I have worked in many areas of the charity sector, from community development to animal welfare.
What links these causes is my passion for advocating for a fairer society by helping to eliminate suffering and injustices. The purpose of life is not just to exist but to thrive.
I'm driven to eliminate injustices through different means, with my recent experience in fundraising and direct marketing.
Throughout my career, I've gained the right balance of skills. From empathy, resourcefulness and creativity to help any charity/organisation succeed.
