About Cherise Heavey:

I lead on communications, engagement and marketing strategy for a programme of work within the Department for Education. My responsibilities include:

  • Creating and leading a coherent communications, engagement and marketing strategy and maintaining a forward look of all upcoming activity.
  • Identifying, co-ordinating and delivering marketing and campaign opportunities. 
  • Collecting and analysing data to effectively evaluate campaigns and engagement.
  • Design/Content creation - new videos, blogs, case studies, social media imagery, printed materials (banners, brochures, etc) 
  • Event organisation - large scale conferences, co-ordinating sessions at sector events, virtual events/webinars, etc. 
  • Producing briefing packs, media lines, Parliamentary Questions responses, FOIs, etc.
  • Producing and publishing gov.uk content.  
  • Producing and distributing newsletters and articles to over 5000 users each month. 

I am passionate about communicating effectively and efficiently. We live in a world where we are constantly having information fed to us and I want to ensure the projects I lead on will engage users and communicate in as streamlined and accessible way as possible. 

Experience

From 2011 to 2016, alongside my studies, I worked for TJX in both Homesense and TK Maxx stores. 

I joined the Civil Service in 2017, where I spent 2 years at HMRC before moving to the Department of Education. 

I took a career break in 2018 to 2019 and taught overseas. I was an English teacher in China for just under a year before returning to the Department for Education where I’ve had various roles.
