Chun Hin Shum

Chun-Hin Shum(King Shum) had achieved a bachelor degree in music from the Royal Holloway, University of London,graduating in 2020. King studied traditional, modern and world music. Through studying musical texts, practices, cultures, and institutions he explored issues in history, sociology, ethnology, and philosophy covering an exceptional geographical and chronological range. What is more, King gained practical skills in composition, music technology and performance. Most importantly, King learned conducting from Dr. John Traill,  a visiting lecturer from the St Anne’s College, University of Oxford. Beside studies, King was an active member of alto at the Chorus at Royal Holloway. Also, King learned flute with Alison Myles and he had performed flute recitals.

Later, King achieved a higher diploma in Wine and Beverage Business Management at the International Culinary Institute, Hong Kong. He had also achieved a Wine & Spirit Education Trust Level 2. Beside his studies, he played flute at the VTC symphony orchestra. What is more, King Shum has previously worked as a wine cellar specialist, wine customer service assistant, music consultant, music event assistant manager and music writer at a small music company.

Music Advisor for Jane Zhang's First Ever Extend Reality Online Concert  

- I provided Consultancy service for Jane Zhang's First Ever Extend Reality Online Concert. I assisted on promotion and social media content for the event. Also, I attended marketing and/or promotion meetings as and when requested. What is more I translated (Simplified Chinese to English; English to Simplified Chinese). I examined contract and provide professional answers to the Director. Most importantly, I conducted research and examine on Mainland China's artists, not to mention Involvement in Business-to-Business (B2B) Selling 

CUSTOMER SERVICE ASSISTANT OF WATSON’S WINE (PART-TIME) May 2022 – August 2022

- I assisted the daily operation of the wine department, including product sales, display, replenishment, packaging, customer service, etc., check and update price tags, and conduct regular inventory

STUDYING WINE AND BEVERAGE BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (HIGHER DIPLOMA)  at International Culinary Institute September 2020-April 2022

• I equipped with professional knowledge and practical skills in wine and beverage and catering industry at paraprofessional level. Also, I had done industrial attachment and obtain relevant professional qualifications during the programme.

Skills gained include:  

Excellent Flute performance: Mastering the flute by developing the technical ability and the interpretation of music in order to  give performances in a variety of styles.  

Excellent compositional skills: My studies in the skills of musical composition has enabled me to write melodies of various styles  with coherent structure and rhythm 

Creativity through composition: Writing a sophisticated piece of music in vocals or instruments has helped me to develop a sense  of innovation, not only in music, but also in other areas. 

Ability to work under pressure: My exposure to the academic challenges, such as mastering new music technical skills, and  tackling assignments and examination has enabled me to work under pressure.  

Team work and organization skills: My studies in the vocal techniques, interpretation of scores and rehearsal management of  choral conducting has helped me to develop the skills of building the team spirit and confidence and communication skills.
