Claire Steele

My name is Claire steele and I'm currently working as a prison custody officer for geoamey in the Newport area. I am court based and also have my hgv licence as I drive prison vehicles. I've done this job for many years. I also did door work over covid and worked in the mental health industry for two years.i hold a full valid driving licence,im non smoker and no children. I'm a very driven and independent woman and have alot of experience which would benefit me in this role. I'm passionate about treating people with respect and treat people how I'd expect to be treated. I'm up to date with first aid training and control and restraint training. I'm very good at the job I do and I'm a trusted member of my team. I work very well in a team or work equally as good on my own. I feel people skills are my best asset and am confident when meeting new people and am good in stressful environments. I am hardworking and love new challenges. I get on well with our custodies we have as some cases can be difficult but I don't judge on what they have been arrested on and take people at face value. And once I leave my work environment I don't take it home,as you imagine some are high profile. So I don't disclose any information outside of work. I feel I would be a good candidate for this position 

I have been to every prison in the country and have built up a good repor with prison staff as well as judges in court and legal team. I have a very good knowledge of the prison service and the every day running of a court environment.  I am now the officer in charge of cwmbran magistrates court and also run Newport magistrates court when needed so I'm good at taking charge and leading a team of 10. Who are solely based in Newport cells. I work well under stress and listen to any issues my staff have. I also have two years experience in the mental health industry as I worked for a private company in Keynsham Bristol,called tascor. So I've been to a lot of mental health units all the country. Again c&r was also something we were trained in. I'm very passionate about the job I do and do 100% everyday. 

I went to a mixed state school in Bristol called kingsfield where my grades were varied and then on to art college called soundwell  where I did get A*s. Since then I've always worked in various jobs whilst studying then going onto work at GSL/ G4S and now Geoamey which is where I have gained more skills and knowledge.
