Diana Zachariah

After years of contemplation, personal experience of a family member’s mental health, and a great zeal for human nature, I shifted my career from Fashion to Psychology. I have recently graduated in B.Sc Psychology from Birkbeck, University of London and am currently working as a mental health support worker.

Learning Support Practitioner Croxley Danes School (Oct 2021-Aug 2022)

• Supporting children with learning difficulties such as ADHD and Dyslexia by providing strategies to help with acquiring effective curriculum-based information and life skills.
• Supporting students with developmental disorders such as ASD, wherein I provide help with sensory processing, social interaction through various activities, and class engagement.
• Creating interventions for pupils with social and emotional difficulties 
• My experience includes pastoral care for students with self-harm, the behavioral impact of learning difficulties such as ADHD, and emotional dysregulation. Interventions for better regulation also involve physical activities such as sports/walking, educating students on metacognitive skills and mindfulness 
• Creating plans for behavioral problems and conflict resolutions.
• Key working with SEN pupils and tracking their progress (includes pupils with Marfan’s syndrome, Cerebral palsy and learning difficulties, and mental health disorders such as anxiety disorders and Depression)
• Supporting a phased return to school for students with depression/self-harm issues 
• Working on SEN students’ details for classroom management.

Research Assistant

I was previously (Summer break 2021) involved in a university-based post doc research on autism for both children and adults. The research is mainly based on portable eye tracking devices and its usability in low-income places such as India. In addition, within the same project, I have experience in using applications such as Motion to focus on area of interests.
