Experience includes policy, strategy and planning;  regulation and enforcement; standards, management systems and certification; auditing and carbon verification; training and competence; and benchmarking eg CDP, performance reporting eg Annual Report & Accounts and TCFD.

I create positive change and extraordinary outcomes.

Example achievements I have designed, developed and implemented - Nottinghamshire WRA annual report and standard licence conditions, NGrid groundbreaking carbon strategy 2006, NRail zero waste facility 2010 and Blackfriars pv solar array 2011, multiple management systems certified within 9 months - 2013 to 2022.

I've also influenced multiple governments/ government bodies eg £300m rollover of funding for safety and env enhancements at NRail - a first for regilated businesses and  Zambian government became a signatory of the Basel Convention to permit the legal shipment of hazardous waste out of the country in 1998.

I work best given free reign to understand a business before developing policy, strategy and plans, but I can take an existing approach and deliver it.

Experience

Internationally experienced, award winning sustainability professional with over 34 years experience in many sectors including civils, infrastructure, property, public transport, shipping, telecoms, construction and nuclear.

Experienced environmental and sustainability leader.  

Strong influencing skills with pragmatic and practical approach.

Extensive capability in assurance, data verification, audit and performance reporting; building and operating management systems; delivering legal and behaviour-based training; and leading on low carbon solutions, resource efficient, circular economy strategy.  

With a background in stakeholder dialogue, has a strong ethos of working collaboratively across organisations to influence change.  

Adept at developing win-wins - aligning environmental/ sustainability issues to organisational vision/ missions, programme and financial constraints.  

Sound project/ programme management skills including £160m cross-organisation performance improvement programme and global audit programme and engagement events.
