As a Biomedical Engineer with 7 years of experience in Sri Lanka, Qatar, and currently in the United Kingdom, I have handled medical diagnostic, critical care, imaging, and therapeutic equipment in various clinical environments like hospitals, laboratories, and research centres by performing commissioning, preventive and corrective maintenance, and decommissioning of equipment on time and achieving the target numbers.

During this period, I have communicated with external engineers and medical suppliers to inquire about remedial measures to manage medical devices and equipment.

Analyzing quotations regarding the spare parts of in-stock, non-stock items, and labor costs according to the priority of needs of the various departments in the clinical environment and raising purchase orders accordingly.

Following IEC 17025 guidelines for testing, calibration of laboratory equipment and maintaining quality of biological samples. Possessing the knowledge of Medical Laboratory Technologists since I worked for 1.5 years with PCR, hormone analyzers, tissue analyzers, centrifuge and with a wide variety of  other laboratory equipment throughout hospital laboratories, University laboratories,  research laboratories, medical faculties and veterinary hospitals.

Ability in performing electrical safety tests for Class I and II following IEC 60601 and IEC 62353 equipment depending on the type of applied parts by using standard electrical safety analyzers such as Fluke 612/615 and Rigel 288+ with software versions like  Ansur 3.0.0 and generating reports to ensure that the machines and probes are electrically safe for clinical use after corrective maintenance and troubleshooting. I have the confidence to to perform these tests individually. Ability to diagnose electrical and electronic faults on PCBs, SMPS, auxiliary parts, and other circuit boards in electrically powered medical equipment by using multimeters and reading the parameters accordingly.

Experience on using IDA (Infusion Device Analyzer) by connecting to softwares such as Hydrograph. Analyzing the test reports to diagnose faults and resolve the issues on site without sending the machines to the Original Equipment Manufacturer.

Ability to handle Prosim 8 vital sign simulator to detect the accuracy of the leads and sensors and replace the durables to rectify the issues in ECG machines, multipara monitors and pulse oximeters and other vital sign monitors.

Ability to identify the components of the machines and check their compatibility when troubleshooting medical equipment.

Possessing Knowledge to perform preventive maintenance of large number of Oxygen and Air Flowmeters ,HIgh and Low suction units and other machines according to manufacturer's guidelines and protocols.

Assisting senior engineers with their preventive and corrective maintenance and providing physical support to lift and move the machines to the workshop and clinical wards.

Performing commissioning and decommissioning when required and ensuring the machines are safe to accept or dispose of by performing the decontamination process using accepted materials during equipment refresh and clinical requests.

Ensuring the consumables, durables, and machines are not contaminated and taking health and safety measures to avoid contamination and biological hazards among clinical staff, patients and general public and control infectious diseases by disposing offensive and general waste seperately when performing corrective and preventive maintenance.

Assisting and performing audits to locate and update the database on the assets within clinical use.

Logging jobs daily on corrective and preventive maintenance and recording the job details on system platforms while maintaining service level agreements without penalty.

Updating Excel spreadsheets on commissioning, decommissioning, preventive, and corrective maintenance of medical equipment.

Providing instructions and advice to clinical staff professionally, respecting ethics and discipline to avoid user damage by communicating formally and professionally. Possessing practical knowledge to quick reponse during fire or any other emmergency due to the training obtained by fire safety training course at Queen's Hospital, Romford. Ability to perform manual handling of weights and equipment by completing certified training courses offered by Siemens Healthineers Pvt Ltd.
