I have a proven track record of using data to drive public health impact. By building robust data pipelines, analytic tools, and models, I enable healthcare decision-makers to make informed choices that lead to health care systems and interventions that are efficient and equitable. With over six years of experience working in the public and private sectors, I have thrived in cross-collaborative teams, leveraging my research skills and background to contribute to epidemiology research in the form of peer-reviewed publications and work delivered on regional and international platforms.
Experience
As a data scientist with a background in biochemistry and molecular biology, I possess a proven track record of leveraging data to drive impactful outcomes in public health. My expertise lies in constructing robust data pipelines, developing analytical tools, and building models that empower healthcare decision-makers to make informed choices, ultimately leading to more efficient and equitable healthcare systems and interventions.
Throughout my career, I have consistently demonstrated the ability to thrive in cross-collaborative teams, applying my research skills and knowledge to contribute to epidemiological research. This has resulted in peer-reviewed publications and impactful work presented on both regional and international platforms.
In my recent role as a Data Scientist at Preventx, I harnessed online sexual health testing data to generate actionable insights. These insights were instrumental in optimizing healthcare interventions for clients and identifying new revenue streams for the business. By effectively communicating these findings to stakeholders at various levels, I played a key role in informing decision-making processes. Additionally, my research contributions helped position Preventx as a thought leader in the field, enhancing the company's brand reputation and driving business growth.
Prior to Preventx, I served as a Data Scientist at the UK Health Security Agency, where I managed a critical data pipeline that linked national hospital attendance records with COVID-19 testing data. This resulted in a categorized dataset of hospital-onset COVID cases, which was used to update daily reports and inform public briefings during the pandemic. I also played a pivotal role in automating and optimizing this pipeline, significantly reducing its run time and improving data quality.
My experience also includes leading the development and implementation of a real-time health data surveillance dashboard at APIN Public Health Initiatives. This dashboard monitored the full HIV continuum, from case identification to viral load monitoring, and proved crucial in monitoring public health interventions for HIV in high-burden areas of Nigeria.
Education
I hold a Master's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Covenant University, which has provided me with a strong foundation in the biological sciences and their applications to healthcare. This academic background has been instrumental in my ability to understand and analyze complex health data, as well as to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and researchers.
In addition to my formal education, I have pursued various training courses and certifications in data science, machine learning, and epidemiology. These include the Advanced Data Science Specialization from Coursera and IBM, the Machine Learning with TensorFlow on Google Cloud Platform Specialization from Coursera and Google, and the UK Field Epidemiology Training Programme. These ongoing learning efforts have allowed me to stay at the forefront of the rapidly evolving field of data science and to apply the latest techniques and technologies to my work in healthcare.
