Eleanor Ross

 I have been working in whisky retail and sales for 6 years. I have enjoyed growing and developing my sales skills since joining the industry. Throughout my development I had the opportunity to secure deals with repeat clients for bigger companies out of a small business. It was something that I enjoyed the most about my time within the industry. Liaising with clients, fulfilling orders and negotiating prices on rare vintage bottles is what I take a lot of interest in. I am very passionate about whisky. I have spent a lot of time researching and teaching to other people. I have been hired as a tasting consultant on a number of occasions to bigger businesses. I have hosted many of my own events and tastings throughout Edinburgh and I am very secure on my knowledge of whisky and feel very comfortable with giving advice to clients on prices and current trends within the whisky auction market. I have good knowledge on cask management and investment process. I would like to learn more about developing and establishing commercial and private bottlings for clients as this is an aspect of the industry that I haven’t had experience in.

Whiski Shop - Edinburgh November 2022 to August 2023
I worked in a small team orientated whisky shop. At this position I hosted regular whisky tastings. I focused these tastings more on teaching people about the industry and insight into whisky making process and casks. I learned many vital skills in client management in this role. I was able to liaison with clients that were interested in more unusual whisky or investment bottles. I used my knowledge of whisky to helped customers, international and local, find whiskies that fulfilled demands. Because It was an independent retail space we primarily stocked independent companies and put them at the forefront of the business by having them host tastings within the retail space.
