About Ellie Chambers :
Currently studying MSc Veterinary Physiotherapy at The University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine & Science.
First Class BSc (Hons) Bioveterinary Science Graduate from The University of Lincoln.
My life sciences undergraduate degree focused on clinical understanding of both animal & human disease; encompassing research skills, laboratory practicals, and medical reasoning. Whilst building my extensive scientific portfolio, I conducted an independent literature research project investigating the effect of social media influencers on the brachycephalic dog breeding market.
Aside from my life sciences experience, I am confident working hands-on with animals through my part-time employment as a canine centre assistant, as well as various work-based placements. This role highlights my valuable teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
In my free time, I enjoy second-hand and vintage clothing shopping as this is something I have always had an interest in!
Experience
My current role as a Canine Centre Assistant requires me to utilise many of my professional working skills. My duties include welcoming owners and their dogs upon arrival, conducting canine assessments observing animal behaviour, and maintaining overall animal welfare through husbandry duties and maintaining a clean environment. I can face difficult situations when a dog may need removing from daycare, or has not passed their initial assessment; I offer support and advice to owners in a sensitive manner to ensure they are comfortable and understanding of the situation.
My previous employment as a sales assistant greatly developed my customer service and phone etiquette skills; my role involved handling wholesale orders and organising these using Microsoft Excel, and working with customers on the shop floor handling both cash and card transactions.
My university education has also helped to develop my professional experience through various work placements, and modules focusing on professional practice skills.
Education
From 2016 to 2018, I completed my A-levels at The Southwell Minster School and went on to study BSc (Hons) Bioveterinary Science at The University of Lincoln where I graduated with a First-Class Honours degree,
I am currently a part-time Masters student at The University of Nottingham, studying Veterinary Physiotherapy in both canine and equine practice.
