I am a passionate and enthusiastic Maths lecturer, Mastery Maths Specialist, and Teaching and Learning Coach in the education and training sector, with a genuine commitment to helping students of all abilities reach their full potential. With over a decade of experience as a Teaching Assistant, I have supported students with diverse abilities and needs across various primary schools, excelling in both permanent and supply roles.
I hold a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Mathematics and continually strive for personal and professional growth, showcasing flexibility and unwavering dedication throughout my career. Currently, I am pursuing a Professional Doctorate in Education, focusing on addressing underachievement gaps in education, further cementing my commitment to tackling educational challenges and fostering success for all learners.
Experience
With over a decade of experience in education, I have developed a diverse and impactful career spanning primary, secondary, and further education. Currently, as a Maths Lecturer, Mastery Maths Specialist, and Teaching & Learning Coach at South Bank Colleges, I teach GCSE and Functional Skills in Mathematics, design inclusive lessons, and lead CPD sessions to support professional development. Previously, I taught mathematics to parents as part of family learning programs at Waltham Forest Learning Service and gained hands-on teaching experience during placements at Waltham Forest College and Working Men’s College. My earlier career as a Teaching Assistant included full-time roles at Greenleaf Primary School, where I provided targeted support to Key Stage 2 students, and supply positions across various schools, supporting Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 learners, including ESL and SEN students. These roles reflect my adaptability, dedication, and passion for empowering learners of all ages and abilities.
Education
I have a strong academic foundation in education, mathematics, and teaching, which forms the basis of my expertise as an educator. I am currently pursuing an EdD Professional Doctorate in Education at London South Bank University, with a research focus on addressing achievement gaps in education. Alongside this, I am completing the Mastery Maths Specialist Programme with NCTEM and Maths Hubs, where I serve as a Professional Development Lead. My qualifications include a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Mathematics from the Institute of Education (UCL), as well as a Level 3 Award in Mathematics for Numeracy Teachers and a Level 3 Award in Education and Training. My academic journey began with a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies from the University of East London, further complemented by achieving GCSE Maths and English as an adult learner at Waltham Forest Adult Learning Centre. This ongoing commitment to education demonstrates my passion for continuous growth and professional excellence in the field.
