Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage Uea(su) Governance
  • Directly line manage the Governance Coordinator and all governance and democracy clerks and administrators
  • Maintaining detailed knowledge and ownership of organisational bye-laws and articles of association whilst also maintaining up to date knowledge of the charity commission
  • Ensuring all bye-laws and articles of association are up to date in line with members and trustees amendments. 
  • Ensuring our legal requirements as set out in the Education Act 1994 are completed and fulfilled as laid out in cycle of business for all governance meetings and activities
  • Leading on the recruitment, training, and development of all trustee board members both internal and external.
  • Supporting on updating the organisational risk register annual with support from senior management team 
  • Overseeing the clerking and effective running of the organisations trustee board meetings and sub-committees of the board including:
    • Management committee
    • Finance committee
    • Risk and Oversight Committee
    • HR and Appointment committee
  • Oversee organisational compliance in line with risk register and Senior management teams responsibility maintenance marks
  • Managing an accessible and transparent complaints and code of conduct procedure
