About Etaoin Gaskell:
Hello!
I have recently completed a MSc in Psychology of Mental Health (Conversion) at the University of Edinburgh. I am expecting to receive a 1st Class Honours grade upon graduation in November 2022. I also hold a 1st Class Honours BSc in Biological Sciences with study in Germany. I have a wide scientific knowledge, and I entered the MSc in Psychology with an existing specialism in Neuroscience. I feel this gives me a well-rounded approach to understanding the brain and behaviour.
I am keen to enter a role in the realm of psychology which will complement my breadth of knowledge in the area. Broadly, my main interests are in Developmental Psychology and Psychological Therapies.
I am interested in roles including research: I have completed two dissertations; the former (BSc) investigated the neural mechanisms underpinning the post-mating response in the female Drosophila melanogaster. My second (MSc) dissertation investigated parent-baby bonding and relationships with a focus on perinatal adversities, protective factors and other events. I would be very interested in a role which similarly investigates the effect of perinatal events, as my research has led me to realise the cruciality of research surrounding maternity, perinatal mental health, child development and childcare.
Through my studies I have developed experience of managing databases and analysis of data which I gained during my Psychology MSc in Research Methods modules, including competence in software SPSS, and survey software Jisc. This adds to my ability to use R software which I gained during my Biological Sciences BSc. As such, my skills include both quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
I am also interested in roles which involves working closely with service users as well as being part of a larger multidisciplinary team, since I am a personable individual and I love to work with others.
Other skills I possess include a C1 German ability as well as Grade 8 Violin. As well as having a scientific background, I am also a very creative person and it would be a bonus for me to involve this in my work, for example in Music Therapy.
Experience
Personal Care for individual with Dementia.
Tutoring for young child with Dyslexia; GCSE and A-Level tutoring.
Education
Psychology of Mental Health MSc, including studies in Biological Psychology, Cognitive Psychology and Cognitive Disorders, Conceptual and Theoretical Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Developmental Psychopathology, Individual Differences, Psychological Therapies, and Psychological Research Methods.
Through modules in Psychological Research methods during my Psychology Msc I have garnered experience of managing databases and analysis of data, which includes development of competence in software SPSS. This adds to my ability to use R software which I gained during my Biological Sciences BSc.
