I feel I have the correct expertise, passion and attitude to elevate any Wardrobe Department, having completed work in the film, theatre and fashion industries! I am currently a Dresser at Newcastle Theatre Royal and I have vast experience collaborating with touring wardrobe teams on large scale productions ranging from musicals, to opera, to ballet. I am currently a Medical Lab Assistant alongside this role. In my spare time, I design and make drag costumes, collaborating with my client base to create outstanding costumes for stage that hold up their excellent, made to measure quality throughout their entire tour run. Being an extremely creative individual, I'm also a local artist, producing paintings, prints, and personalised commissions on top of costume design and making. I was delighted to be awarded Costume Interpretation with Design (BA Hons) STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2021 Award for my exemplary performance and talent during my studies, a high standard which I have continued to exude since graduating.

As well as professional experience in the wardrobe side of the theatrical industry, I also have knowledge and experience in cutting and styling hair and wigs, having turned my hand to these skills when necessary in my current and previous backstage and on set roles. I am confident in makeup application, with strong knowledge of theatre specific makeup techniques and products appropriate for stage, including application of wigs and prosthetics. I have developed skill using all hair styling tools, ranging from heat setting rollers, tongs and curling irons, straightening and drying, and setting hair in period specific styles ready for performance. I am very willing to learn and adapt my current skill base to suit other roles such as these and would love to learn and expand within the theatrical industry! So anywhere you think I may be lacking within my application I am confident I can rectify given the appropriate guidance.

I have a richly developed understanding of backstage etiquette and experience working within different theatrical environments, having been involved in touring and local productions ranging from musicals, to ballet, to opera and pantomimes! This has supplied me with the knowledge of performance specific underwear, costume storage and maintenance, organisation and stock keep, repairs and fittings, quick changes and different dressing tracks, technical departments and LX areas, including the handling of mic packs, wig and hairstyling, as well as having dabbled in makeup application where necessary; I am more than happy to turn my hand to anything required to ensure the smooth running of the show. Some of the skills I have acquired for this position include: experience with quick changes, setting costumes in the wardrobe village/quick change areas ready for cast to use, organising costumes and accessories for the next shows, aiding the hair and wigs department in the application of wigs/removal of makeup during quick-changes as well as costume, being an excellent team player, having a self-awareness of other working departments backstage, respecting members of cast and crew and gaining valuable interpersonal relationships from working with many different individuals from varying touring and local productions.

Some of the skills acquired in this position that are transferable to a role as a Costume Technician are: my high level of organisation skills for organising and keeping track of all costumes, repairs, stock and replacements necessary for the cast, COVID 19 Infection Safety trained that I would be able to draw upon whilst working in a backstage environment, confidentiality, respect and equality values, excellent written and verbal communication skills, MS Office application confident.

Costume Designer

 Phoenix Works Films - Luton

I was Head of Wardrobe and leading Costume Designer, Maker for a short film written and directed by Victor De Almeida, based on the works of Stanley Kubrick. My duties included: leading the rest of the wardrobe department, leading wardrobe maintenance and costume repairs, organisation. and stock the of all costumes, replacing costumes and undergarments where necessary during filming, designing and sourcing materials within a strict budget, collaborating with other departments, problem solving on set, looking after the cast and using my exemplary making and construction skills to create beautiful costumes; for this role, i used my millinery, corsetry and tailoring and fitting skills to successfully achieve the brief.

I was Costume Designer and a part of a team of Costume Makers for a production of "A Lion in Winter" at Billingham Players Theatre, Stockton. My duties included: designing costumes based on character specific traits, working with recycled, unconventional materials to remain within a strict budget, teamwork within the workroom, utilising my excellent creativity and sewing skills to successful execute exemplary costumes for stage, including tailoring, quilting, embellishment, appropriate fastenings, conduction alterations and corsetry, dressing backstage, ensuring all cast are comfortable and attended to and liaising with the stage director and all other working departments.

As well as film and various theatre productions, I have worked briefly within the fashion industry as Wardrobe Assistant for Wreckreation in collaboration with the prestigious motorsport company Shelby American, creating a couture collection inspired by their cars; this gives me an interesting and exciting edge compared to other candidates, as the experience I gained working with unconventional materials and inspirations at a high fashion level feed into my costume and knowledge of theatre extremely well, giving me another layer of skills to draw from.

I often design and make custom costumes for my ever-growing client base, mostly performance, dance and drag acts based customers. When running this business, I am responsible for the organisation of my stock and receipts, orders and replacing fabric stocks, recording measurements and client details, dealing with costs and budget and working within a regulated time frame; all of these skills are directly transferable to organising a wardrobe department. My skills involved in this include: liaising with clients to create a collaborative design and concept ready for their custom costumes/garments to be created, high level of pattern drafting, sewing and making involved in the construction of the pieces, sometimes including millinery and other costume accessories, such as masks and jewellery, corsetry skills, especially with my drag clients, as the underwear involved in the drag performance costumes must create a female silhouette, high skills in design illustration to communicate ideas and excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Costume Designer/Head of Wardrobe:

July 2021-October 2021

 I had the pleasure of being Costume Designer for a feature film starring Richard Brake, from the Batman and Kingsman franchises to name a few of his works, and popular British comedian Rufus Hound. Education

I obtained a First-Class Honours in BA Hons Costume Interpretation with Design, from The Northern School of Art, having recently graduated in 2021. I was also awarded the prestigious STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2021 AWARD, selected by my course lecturers and the university board for my performance and talent during my studies. I acted as course representative throughout my three years of study, working tirelessly to home in my leadership and team working skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills, as well as perfecting my craft. My sewing and designing skills are at an exemplary level, combining my natural talent for the arts with my strong work ethic and strive for improvement and perfectionism within my craft. I can confidently say that you will not find the range or level of my ability in any other candidate.

 

In my A Levels I achieved AAA*, being one of the most successful and hardworking student in my year, and thus securing an unconditional offer from my chosen university. I have exemplary written and verbal English skills, with administration skills and the ability to effectively communicate with others, especially when it comes to leadership and teamwork. My creativity and innovative, intuitive mind has always been my strongest attribute, making me extremely resourceful compared to other candidates. my work ethic and passion for my field has always shone through, even from a young age, and I am continuously thriving to better myself and my craft.
