Frances Rutherford

I feel that I possess many valuable qualities that will serve me well in any working environment. I am good at getting the job done quickly, efficiently and always to the best of my ability. I approach every task with a positive attitude and take pride in my work. I enjoy working as part of a team but I am also perfectly comfortable working alone with individual tasks. I have enjoyed a wide range of social opportunities and experiences which have helped me develop the skills required to quickly and efficiently deal with any situation that may come my way. I am a friendly, bright and enthusiastic person that looks to find enjoyment in every aspect of life.

The work that I carried out during my time at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens was full on horticulture and the work placement/volunteering at Royal Victoria Country Park also largely involved caring for and maintaining the plants and trees within the park. I have also completed work experience with the South Downs National Park rangers and worked with my Mother who is a self-employed gardener. I have enjoyed all of this work immensely and gained a huge sense of satisfaction from it.

I worked as a volunteer for Butterfly Conservation at Yew Hill and I have worked with volunteers at Royal Victoria Country Park and South Downs National Park so I am familiar with the role that volunteers play and the way that they are managed. I have also gained experience in dealing with the public in all of these roles.

These work experiences have given me certainty that being a park ranger is the career path I would like to pursue.I have my brush cutting and ATV licence and I am very close to completing a chainsaw licence for crosscutting and felling.

I have attended Sparsholt college studying Wildlife and Conservation Land Management Level 3. During my time at college, I have learned how to work with nature, to identify its needs and to help create and preserve an envirenment in which nature can prevail. Sparsholt has taught me how to work independantly and as part of a team, working with other people, or guiding other people if nececary.
