About Galia Palmer:
I am an aspiring Assistant Psychologist and Psychology graduate with a strong academic background and hands-on experience in mental health support, research, and rehabilitation. My journey so far has included volunteering with NHS rehabilitation units, supporting stroke survivors through group workshops, and working on youth mental health helplines, where I developed skills in risk assessment, active listening, and crisis support. Alongside this, I have contributed to research projects in developmental psychology and mental health, with experience in both quantitative and qualitative analysis. I am passionate about applying psychological knowledge to improve wellbeing and empower individuals in their recovery journeys, while continuing to grow towards a career in clinical psychology.
Experience
I have gained diverse experience across clinical, research, and support settings. My work includes volunteering with NHS rehabilitation services, where I assist stroke survivors and multidisciplinary teams in both cognitive and physical recovery. I also support young people through a mental health hotline, providing risk assessments and guidance for a range of psychological challenges. In research, I have contributed to projects on child development and wellbeing, conducting literature reviews, data collection, and both qualitative and quantitative analysis. These experiences have strengthened my ability to combine evidence-based knowledge with compassionate support in real-world contexts.
Education
I have a BSc Psychology (First Class Honours) from City St George’s, University of London (2022–2025). My studies have given me a strong foundation in clinical, biological, and research-focused psychology, with high achievement in areas such as quantitative methods (93.5%), biological approaches to mind and behaviour (99.8%), and clinical psychology (79.2%). My dissertation explored anxiety and the impact of minimal CBT on cognition, reflecting my strong interest in clinical practice and evidence-based interventions.
