About Gene Chan:

After obtaining my BSc. (Hons) in Applied Biology, I embarked on a diverse career with renowned multinational pharmaceutical firms across Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and China. I embraced roles spanning sales, marketing, public affairs, training, and commercial team management.

During my studies, I specialized in microbiology within Applied Biology. I also worked as an educator and event coordinator at Ocean Park Hong Kong, educating teenagers on topics such as environmental conservation, marine life, and plant ecology.

As a post-graduate sales representative, I consistently surpassed ambitious targets and KPIs, showcasing my dedication and adeptness in handling healthcare professionals' inquiries and concerns.

Advancing into marketing, market access, and public affairs, I honed my brand development expertise. Collaboratively, I engaged healthcare stakeholders, associations, governments, and vendors, orchestrating impactful online/offline events. I led projects to enhance disease awareness via diverse social media platforms, contributed to healthcare professional webinars, and coached front-line staff on product knowledge and disease backgrounds.

Leading commercial teams provided insights into sales analytics, forecasting, budgeting, and P&L management, enabling me to balance growth and fiscal efficiency.

Committed to enhancing my skills, I pursued an MBA from the University of Birmingham. A stint as an after-school tutor ignited a passion for nurturing the younger generation. Position: Associate Director, Vaccine, HK & Macau

Job duties: 

  • Business planning, set up local operation for BioNTech/ Fosun mRNA COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Liaison with the HK SAR & the Macau SAR Government in the procurement of COVID-19 vaccine and the planning and roll-out of the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme.

Achievement: 

  • Negotiate with the HK SAR & Macau SAR Government, successfully obtained a bilateral agreement between the Governments and BioNTech/ Fosun Pharma in December 2020 to supply BioNTech/ Fosun Pharma mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Comirnaty) to HK.
  • Responsible for application of emergency authorization of the Comirnaty vaccine in HK & Macau.

 

 

Amgen Hong Kong
Position: Marketing Lead – Bone Franchise
Duration: Sep 2018 – Aug 2020.
Job duties: 

  • Bone franchise products brand management 
  • Development of strategic plan

Award: 

  • Runner-up award for Amgen Asia Pacific Marketing campaign 2019 (Bone Health in Execution Excellence)

Achievement: 

  • Partnering with Amgen Market Access team, patient groups, medical associations to submit proposal to Policy Address, in order to raise public concerns, and urge the HK SAR Government to increase resources in osteoporosis management.

I held various roles at Sanofi in Taiwan and Hong Kong, progressing from Product Manager to Public Affairs, Commercial Team Management, and Junior Staff Coaching. My final role was as Market Strategy & Development Manager for Taiwan and Hong Kong.
