I am experienced in operating a process plant as an outside operator including Start-up and Shutdown of numerous industrial processes, performed to strict guidelines of Standard Operating Conditions (SOC) and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), as well as completing all plant duties and routines I have responsibility for all plant adjustments and rate changes to comply with Strict Production Targets, with a DCS understanding and knowledge. Job Description: Presently employed as a shift field Production Technicianapprentice on the COMAH registered LC1 Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Melt-To-Resin polymer process plant at Alpek Polyester on Wilton International.

 

Responsibilities and goals achieved.

- Trained and competent field technician for Melt-To-Resin (MTR) plants involving continuous production and batch production with experience, understanding and knowledge with Siemens PCS 7 and Foxboro DCS control systems.

- Safe operation of PET production plant equipment including various Pump and Heat Exchangers, Spray Condensers, Steam Ejectors, Heated Vacuum Reactors, underwater Polymer Chip Cutters, Distillation and Stripper Columns, Gas Fired Burner, including T66 and Dowtherm heating mediums, Hot and Cold Chip conveying systems, and Utility systems including Cooling/ Chilled Water packages, Compressed Air systems, Steam let-down systems and natural gas let-down systems.

- Adhering to company safety polices (PSP), working under HASAWA, COSHH, HSE and EA legislation.

- Undertaking safety critical field parameter readings on a shiftily basis and reporting abnormalities and rectifying any problems arising.

- Collecting liquid and solid samples from the process stream and altering process parameters based on sample results to achieve product quality specification and plant efficiency.  

- Trained on the Permit to Work System including lock and tag isolating systems (LT3).

- Shutting down/Changeover/Isolation and Draining/Locking and tagging piecesof equipment for permit to works for routine maintenance and cleaning (filters, pumps, steam ejectors etc).

- Performing draining and Nitrogen purging before handover to maintenance personnel.

- Testing and inspection of plant safety equipment on a weekly basis to conform to BSI and ISO standards.

- Identifying problems with process equipment and assigning defect cards.

- Excellent understanding of Work Control Permits and the correct PPE required for the various tasks in question.

- Grading and inspecting final product before loading to ensure correct specification.

- Experienced in giving and receiving detailed but concise handovers.

- Forklift Truck Operator for Start-up, Shutdown and Plant Disturbances including all required duties.

- Actively participate in safety tours and routine Take245 risk assessments (Stop, Think, Consider).

- Standby trained to ensure the safety of personnel working including entering any confined spaces, Fire Watch for any grinding or welding activities.

Education

2023/2024

Apprentice Production Technician onsite at Alpek Polyester completing a Level 3 Science manufacturing Technician (ST0250) End point assessment(Synoptic Assessment Test, Vocational Competency Discussion and Scenario Case Study) from the Science Industry Assessment Service (SIAS)with a Strong Distinction result.

2021/2022

Apprenticeship with Alpek Polyester learning at Hartlepool College.

City and Guilds level 3 in Process Technologies (0610) covering;

- Mathematics for Process Industries.

- Process Chemistry in Process Industries (double award).

- Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow in Process Industries (double award).
