During my work experience at Barnardo's as a sales assistant, I was immersed in various tasks that ensured the store's efficient operation. My responsibilities included assisting customers, managing stock, and maintaining the store's appearance. A typical day involved opening the store, checking the till, and arranging new stock on shelves. I greeted customers, helped them find items, and answered questions, which sharpened my customer service skills. I played a key role in stock management by sorting donations, tagging and pricing merchandise, and organizing the storeroom. Additionally, I ensured the clothes were properly sorted, steamed, and displayed attractively, which significantly boosted sales. Processing transactions at the till required meticulous attention to detail, and balancing the cash register at day's end ensured accuracy. Keeping the shop clean and presentable, adhering to health and safety regulations, and working collaboratively with other volunteers developed my sense of responsibility and teamwork.
