About Jack Bell:
Ever since my first part-time job as a swimming teacher 16 years ago, working with children has come naturally to me.
I then went on to coach rugby and multiple other sports in a variety of environments, from primary schools to professional club academies.
This led me onto working at Dallaglio Rugbyworks, working as a lead coach and regional employability lead to improve the job prospects of teenagers in a number of London Pupil Referral Units and Alternate Provision schools; young people from some of the most disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK.
This passion for helping those afforded much less opportunities than I was as a child led to the charity Teach First, with the mission to make the education system work for every child.
Here I began studying a PGCE alongside working full time as a class teacher in an inner London primary school; my time working with teenagers made me realise that I could have a more significant impact by supporting younger children from the same disadvantaged backgrounds.
I am a highly reflective practitioner, still practising methods I learned in my two years as an Early Career Teacher. I take feedback well and continually strive to develop my teaching, through regular reflection and CPDs.
Having qualified as a teacher in a pandemic year with two lockdowns, I showed my resilience facing challenging circumstances and managed to forge strong professional relationships with families, in particular the most disadvantaged.
I consistently teach with empathy, setting extremely high standards and modelling positive behaviours in the classroom and around school.
Now working in the independent sector, I have seen my skills utilised differently, having a more meaningful impact on a smaller group of children.
