Hobbies & Interests

I have pursued a variety of hobbies and interests in the past, including archery, rock climbing, playing the drums, video editing, and learning to draw. While I am currently focusing on improving my drawing skills and aim to eventually achieve proficiency in animation, I also have a desire to return to and continue rock climbing.

Additionally, I am passionate about mathematics and am currently working on a project to create a math learning resource. This project not only reflects my love for the subject but also provides valuable experience in developing educational materials. Furthermore, I am keen on returning to mathematics tutoring in my free time, as I enjoy sharing my knowledge and helping others succeed in this subject.

Previous Work Experience

Military Experience

(September 2023 – April 2024)

I have gone through extensive military training where, despite not completing basic training due to injury, I dedicated myself to the training for an extended period. This prolonged experience allowed me to refine and develop essential skills such as:

Pizza Express Front of House, Newquay Cornwall

(June 2022 – September 2023)

I have worked for the Pizza Express chain at the establishment in Newquay as a food runner. Whilst running food was the primary focus of my role, I also provided support across many front-of-house tasks. Some of my responsibilities included:

·       Taking food to tables ensuring accuracy and timely delivery

·       Clearing away any dishes and cutlery

·       Sending things through the dishwasher and organising clean dishes

·       Cleaning and setting up tables in the same way for the next customer

·       Cleaning down various parts of the restaurant

·       Restocking drinks fridges at the end of the night

·       Preparing any orders out for takeout

·       Organising tickets for in house and takeaway orders to help efficiency

·       Helping out with any general tasks (eg folding pizza boxes, getting things for other staff etc.)

From this experience I have been able to further develop myself in the working world, becoming a highly reliable member of the team. I actively sought out knowledge on the workplace and became a resource that new employees could turn to with confidence. Additionally, I gained confidence in managing tasks during busy periods and effectively organising workflow during chaotic hours.

Videographer Assistant

(2022 – 2023)

I have had the opportunity to assist in shooting a few weddings and events, gaining some hands-on experience in the field of videography. Some of my responsibilities included:

·       Assisting with the actual recording process, ensuring high-quality footage capture.

·       Providing support with equipment setup and maintenance, making sure all operations were smooth throughout the events.

·       Assisting in monitoring cameras and ensuring the positioning was ideal for capturing key moments.

·       Using basic composition techniques and other camera settings to enhance the quality of the footage.

Through this experience, I gained practical knowledge and skills in videography, including camera operation, equipment management, and attention to detail.

Steam Bar and Restaurant Front of House, Newquay Cornwall

(June 2021 – October 2021)

I have previously worked for the Steam Bar and Restaurant under the St Austell Brewery brand, working as a front of house member as seasonal work. Tasks I was expected to do are as follows:

·       Take food from the kitchen to tables and make sure customers had a perfect experience

·       Take drinks from the bar to tables (before the establishment went to bar service only)

·       Clear away glasses, bringing them to the glass wash and making sure they get cleaned

·       Wipe down tables after use, making sure each one is the same and ready for use once again

From this I have learnt about many key aspects of being in the working world and how it functions, using determination to push through busy nights and working overtime if needed. I have learnt how to work as a team within high speed environments whilst also being able to hold my own when needed.

Math Tutor (solo endeavour)

(January 2021 – March 2021)

I have experience in tutoring mathematics with succession and have seen confidence and skills in mathematics increase. From this experience I have learnt communication skills towards younger children and how to manage my time around the already existing school timetable I had at the time.

(2013-2018)

I have had various experiences throughout my years in school, the majority of which stem from a local youth group in my old town of Corby, Northamptonshire. A few of these experiences are:

·       Litter-Picking

·       Residentials

·       Wide range of team-building exercises with people older and younger than me

·       Consultations that shaped the community

·       Working with the Emergency Services

·       Young ambassador for the local area and going to the houses of parliament

·       Helped in the creation of an Emotional Resilience video for the local area

From all these experiences I have learned communication skills towards people of various ages and how to pull together a project that involves everyone’s ideas and taking a leading position if the situation requires it.
