Experience
Syndications Analyst, 01/2020 – Present
International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) - London
- Supported a sizeable, syndicated loan portfolio, by providing high-quality service to international commercial banks and development finance institutions on ongoing portfolio deals across various sectors (e.g., education, agriculture, and infrastructure) and numerous regions (e.g., Africa, Middle East, and Eastern Europe).
- Received the IFC Corporate Team Award from IFC senior management for closing the €161.25 million financing package to CIMAF (large cement production company in Western Africa). This award recognized my team’s achievements in identifying the best external lenders and finding creative solutions to close this financing package in difficult market conditions.
- Analysed clients’ economic reports and financial statements to create detailed information memorandums, executive summaries, and other promotional materials. These documents were shared with external investors to entice them to join new transactions.
- Drafted concise and informative briefings for senior management summarising the latest country developments, industry trends and key issues facing portfolio projects, in preparation for their meetings with key syndication partners.
- Organized in person meetings (5+ people) with IFC stakeholders. These meetings were important in maintaining strong relationships with external investors and would write up detailed notes of the main action points to follow up with post meeting.
- Independently represented IFC at business events and conferences, where I networked with new clients, participated in workshops to develop new relationships, & summarised the main themes from the events for the wider syndication team review.
- Distilled and summarized large amounts of information sourced from internal databases and external sites to draft detailed quarterly market reports for the EMEA region. These reports contained information about the current loan market as well as analytical graphs and charts, which I had individually crafted so that complex data could be easily interpreted by a wide audience.
- Proactively participated in the monitoring of existing portfolio projects, via responding to lenders queries, managing waiver and amendment requests and processing refinancing/ restructurings (e.g., helped close the refinancing of the US$4.4 billion project finance facility for the Oyu Tolgoi project in Mongolia in February 2023).
- Collaborated with multiple internal teams and lenders to ensure disbursement of large funds (US$20 – US$50 million) were delivered to the borrower by the assigned deadline.
- Regularly update the department’s internal database which contains data on hundreds of projects, with the latest information for each project as well as follow up with the respective investment officer for inputs on future developments that need tracking.
- Worked as part of a team across different locations to organise virtual events for the community connections campaign. Through efficient planning and identifying innovative ideas to boost donations, the team achieved the 93% target participation rate.
