About Jemima Whitwell:
Enthusiastic engineer looking for some industry experience. Having grown up on a third-generation family farm, I have developed a strong work ethic, attention to detail and the ability to work independently. I have participated in several projects, including managing the Mars Rover team at my University, which has helped me develop practical skills and knowledge beyond my studies. Through project planning, including setting goals, creating timelines and allocating resources effectively that drive projects to a successful outcome. I am currently an Aerospace Engineering, Astronautics & Space Technology student, predicted to get a first-class honours degree. I am eager to gain hands-on experience in engineering, which will allow me to expand on my practical skills and knowledge going forward.
Experience
One week at URA Thrusters - Over the course of the week, I had the chance to take part in a school outreach activity, interact with different engineers, and support their efforts by learning about their roles. I also took on the job of building a store inventory system which has since been incorporated into daily operations. UKSA Space Propulsion Testing - I completed an intensive week-long propulsion engineering course, ending with hands-on training. This experience provided valuable insights into safe engineering practices and included learning about skeleton test procedures. We also simulated emergency scenarios, enhancing our skills under pressure, by working with limited oxygen supply. 2-month spin-tern with Space Forge - During my internship, I received training in ISO7 clean room protocols, enhancing my research, trade-offs tables and milestone presentation skills. I crafted design documents, developed prototypes, and generated test reports, drawing valuable insights from each project. I made significant contributions to manufacturing, particularly on the Predwin heatshield project. In addition, I acquired proficiency in Fusion 360 and Valispace, enabling me to create requirements and CAD designs effectively.
